USAToday:
Labor Day and love are in the news, what with super-entrepreneur Warren Buffett getting hitched this week to his long-time companion, Astrid Menks. The New York Times (free registration required) has a good read on the unusual marriage between Buffett, 76, and 1st wife Susan Buffett, who died 2 years ago.
Then there’s this 35-year-old entrepreneur in Berkeley, Calif. - not exactly a hotbed of traditional values - who’s also looking for love and is, in fact, a traditional sort of guy. ‘I pride myself on the fact that I have never been unfaithful (if you find that hard to believe, hit the back button now),’ he wrote in a recent Craigslist romance ad.
I read Craigslist ads by entrepreneurs to learn about the zeitgeist of love. More and more, it seems East Coast entrepreneurs tempt the ladies with loot, while West Coast guys emphasize more mushy stuff. It’s hardware vs. software, I guess.
And while we’re on the subject of love, here’s a trailer for my favorite Labor Day themed movie, Picnic - the 1955 film starring William Holden, Kim Novak and the always entertaining Rosalind Russell. Steamy!
