Inventor Patents Locking Manhole Cover

Business Opportunities Weblog:
A retired professor has invented a manhole cover that can be locked to prevent access by scrap metal thieves and terrorists.

William Meyers came up with the idea for securing manhole covers against unauthorized entry shortly after the 2001 terrorist attacks when he saw reports of municipal workers in New York welding covers shut.

Manhole covers are also welded or bolted when presidential motorcades roll over them or during road races, Meyers said. He also noted an increase in the taking of manhole covers by thieves who sell them for scrap metal. After 3 years, Meyers said he has received a patent for the device and is ready to begin marketing the product.

      Bom finde Cris
