MK News:
A young entrepreneur won £10,000 investment and landed himself a phone call with Simon Cowell after he pitched to Dragon’s Den panellist Peter Jones.

Ricky Mason (photo), 16, of Olney, was one of 6 finalists to battle it out in an attempt to persuade a panel of four benefactors to part with their cash. The Invest Milton Keynes event took place at Jury’s Inn in Central Milton Keynes last Wednesday.

Now after getting £10,000 investment, including a helping hand from the MK Chamber of Commerce by way of a £2,000 donation, his music business idea of nuturing young talent looks set to rocket.

Peter Jones, famed for his part in the BBC Dragon’s Den series, told Ricky he was in business with music industry tycoon Simon Cowell and said he would get him on the phone after the show.

He declined to invest at this stage but offered Ricky some advice on how to tweak his business and may now work with him on their ideas.

Ricky, a pupil at Ousedale School, said: ‘I was pleased with the result. I couldn’t speak to Simon Cowell straight after the show because he wasn’t available, but I will be soon. I will be speaking to Peter Jones in the next few days, and because the business will now be with Peter it should go well.’
