West Linn Tidings:
The National Federation of Independent Business Young Entrepreneur Foundation is accepting applications for the 2007 Young Entrepreneur Awards. This 50th annual scholarship program for high school seniors is designed to set teen-age small business owners on the path to entrepreneurship.
Award recipients attend the university, college, community college or vocational/technical institute of their choice with $1,000 in tuition assistance from the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation. 5 students will be named regional winners and will receive a $5,000 scholarship. 1 of the 5 regional winners will be named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year and will be awarded an additional $5,000 for a total scholarship award of $10,000.
The program made its debut in 2003, when it awarded a total of 110 scholarships nationwide. In 2006, the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation awarded a total of 408 scholarships, thanks to financial support from numerous small-business leaders, corporate sponsors and foundation supporters.
‘We have been extremely impressed with the quality of applicants that have applied for the Young Entrepreneur Awards over the past few years and look forward to learning more about the innovative ideas that this year’s students will produce,’ said Hank Kopcial, executive director of NFIB’s Young Entrepreneur Foundation.
