Maine News:
Spend too much time waiting for your doctor? Do you have to wait on the phone when you call for appointments or prescriptions? Do you have to wait filling out forms in the office? When you move do you have to wait until you just get lucky to find a new doctor who is right for you? How come you can do everything from shopping for shoes to renewing your drivers’ license online, but the medical profession is still using dial up?
MediCreative, a Portland Maine based web development and design company has a cure that is high speed. In May 2006 Rebecca Stockbridge, a 23 year old entrepreneur, opened MediCreative, a company that helps doctors brand their practice for the web and create an online presence – making it possible for doctors and patients to use the internet as a regular part of their healthcare relationship. With the help of a grant form the Libra Future Fund and assistance from Maine Center for Enterprise Development, MediCreative already has 3 medical related clients in New England.
‘When I moved to the area I needed to find a new doctor. My 1st instinct was to go online and search, like I do for most things these days. I was surprised that so few doctors had websites, a name in the phone book is just not enough information. I decided to research this problem and found that only 18% of private medical practices in New England have a website,’ recalls Stockbridge. And a company was born.
