Malvern Gazette:
Budding entrepreneurs from Worcestershire will have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to Dragon’s Den star Peter Jones at the Business Start-up event on February 23-24 at Birmingham’s NEC.

Peter, a leading panellist from the hit BBC show, will be at the NEC looking for people with great biz ideas to take part in his new ITV prime-time series Tycoon.

Broadcasting this summer, Tycoon sees Peter scouring the country for the brightest business talent and backing the best with his own money and reputation.

Peter will be at the NEC as part of the Midas Touch panel at the Business Start-up show, which is the UK’s biggest event for would-be entrepreneurs and business start-ups.

Using the same format as Dragon’s Den, the Midas Touch will feature a panel of well-known business personalities who will be looking for business talent and investment opportunities from entrepreneurs right across the Midlands. Anyone bursting with a business idea can apply for a slot in front of Peter and the rest of the panel at www.bstartup.com.

Visitors to the event will also be able to attend more than 80 free seminars from some of the UK’ s top business minds. Karren Brady, former managing director of Birmingham City Football Club, and Michelle Dewberry, winner of the BBC’s Apprentice in 2006 will be at the NEC offering inspirational advice on how they overcame challenges to establish themselves in business.

At the heart of the show is an exhibition of more than 100 stands involving companies and support agencies offering products, advice and services for people looking to start a business or already running small businesses. Visitors will be able to seek advice on funding, gain insight on technology and software, and learn about best practice in areas such as marketing and sales.

Tickets for the show can be booked online at www.bstartup.com or by calling free on 0800 328 0467.

All in-show features are free but visitors should apply as soon as possible. The seminar schedule is published on the website. Visitors can attend them free on a first-come, first-served basis subject to venue capacity.
