Vail Trail:
Technically, ‘The Entrepreneur’ is a documentary, which is a little like saying Christie Brinkley is a girl.
You’ve know Malcolm Bricklin; you’ve seen his stuff.
Malcolm Bricklin built the Bricklin, a gull-winged wonder car. He was also the first to import Subarus and the Yugo into the U.S.
Now he’s in China, building another auto industry from the ground up, trying to make his vision come to life a second time by putting seriously cool cars in the hands of almost anyone.
Think of him as Henry Ford with style.
This week’s Vail Film Festival features a movie about what he’s going through to make his latest vision a reality.
’The Entrepreneur’ is 90 minutes of active storytelling, a plot-driven saga of the only person in the world to try to produce a car from scratch for the second time.
The film is an entertaining 90 minutes. Filmmaker Jonathan Bricklin, Malcom’s son, boiled it down from 4 years and 1,200 hours of footage.
And don’t think for a second that this is one of those gray documentaries you were forced to sit through in elementary schools. This is an honest-to-Cecil B. DeMille spectacle.
