The Barbados Advocate:
It is time that we have entrepreneurship on the curriculum of all schools. This was the statement made by Lynette Holder, acting Executive Director of the Small Business Association (SBA), as she spoke at the launch of the Association’s Youth Programme.

The programme, which was launched yesterday at the head office of the Association, is intended to provide business education and development, in a manner that would promote a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth, as well as assist the SBA’s offices, head and satellite, in the development of their youth programmes.

Starting officially in January of next year, the programme consists of a job attachment and mentorship programme, as well as practical business projects.

The job attachment and mentorship component is being made possible by both members and non-members of the SBA, who have come on board, living up to their corporate social responsibility, and showing their interest in assisting students in gaining on-the-job experience and knowledge.

Holder stated that this was also a valuable component given the fact that many companies seeking to fill positions in their organisations, regardless of what level, are requesting that potential candidates possess some level of on-the-job experience.
