Many women think their purses are clean if they are kept off floors. But a recent University of Arizona study showed that 30% of purses and handbags are coated with tens-of-thousands of bacteria. A second Salt Lake Tribune study found that some purses were dirtier than the average toilet – often serving as a carrier for salmonella picked up off countertops.
