NBC4:
According to a Zogby International poll, more than a third of U.S. workers said they have been the victims of workplace bullying.
Zogby surveyed 7,740 people with an online survey for the Workplace Bullying Institute.
The Bullying Institute defines workplace bullying as ‘repeated, health-harming mistreatment of one or more’ people by at least one other person. It generally involves verbal abuse or threatening, humiliating or offensive actions. The bullying may also be sabotage that prevents you from getting work done.
When witnesses to bullying are included, Zogby found that nearly 72 million workers in the U.S. are involved.
So, how do you know if you are a victim of bullying? The Workplace Bullying Institute provides these experiences that could demonstrate that you are being bullied at work.
1. Surprise meetings are called by your boss with no results other than humiliation of you.
2. Others at work have been told to stop working, talking or socializing with you.
3. You constantly feel agitated and anxious, experiencing a sense of doom, waiting for bad things to happen.
4. No matter what you do, you are never left alone to do your job.
5. People feel justified screaming or yelling at you in front of others, but you are punished if you scream back. More.
