UK Holidaymakers Lead World Tourism Trends

UK travel fans are driving trends in the world tourism market, according to a new report.

When it comes to seeking out new products, finding cost-effective ways of travelling and communicating want they want from a holiday, Tourism Intelligence places Brits at the top of the list.

Released today at World Travel Market, the travel research specialist’s report is based on interviews with 20 of the UK’s top 25 operators.

Referring to the ‘Ford Motors effect’, Tourism Intelligence managing director Dr Auliana Poon explained to Travel Weekly that travel used to be ‘mass-produced, standardised and individually packaged’.

‘Now the opposite is true. The un-packaging and DIY trend is led by the Brits, and understanding them is the key to understanding how the world will travel in the future,’ she said…
