Entrepreneur Finds It Pays To Sell Cheap

Mariane Louvet is a go-getter. When the 30-something Montreal resident mentions her goal of one day becoming one of Canada’s ‘top-40 under 40′ entrepreneurs, it’s only half in jest.

She already has her own company, Marltech Inc., and a concept she thinks can’t miss.

For the past 3 years, Louvet has been holding occasional clothing liquidation sales in malls and hotels in Quebec and Ontario, renting space for anywhere from a few days to 2 months to sell bargain-priced items obtained from store closings or directly from manufacturers.

Lately, she has been at Montreal’s Beaconsfield Shopping Centre, temporarily occupying a former liquor store and stocking it with $10 sweaters, 50-cent T-shirts, $30 polo shirts and $25 jeans, some bearing brand names like Dickies, Columbia and Point Zero. Read full story.
