A wide-ranging campaign to encourage more women to set up their own businesses was revealed in yesterday’s Budget.
Women, particularly mothers, will be targeted with advice on how to run a firm, pitch for bank loans and prepare business plans.
A new £25 million fund, including £12.5 million of Government money, will be handed out to women with a good idea, but no money to do anything about it.
But the number of women who will be benefit from the new fund could be tiny.
The minimum investment which will be handed out will be £250,000 up to a maximum of £2 million in return for a share of the business.
If everybody got the maximum amount, this means just over 12 women will benefit from the Government’s big idea for encouraging female entrepreneurialism.
Women will be able to apply if they are thinking of setting up a business, or have already set one up but need more investment. Continue reading…
