Somerville Journal:
Mayor Joe Curtatone and Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development Director Monica Lamboy announce that, in cooperation with the Union Square and East Somerville Main Streets organizations, the city will offer a series of monthly workshops designed to provide practical support and encouragement to the city’s growing population of small- and mid-sized businesses.

The monthly workshops will consist of 2 series:

The first, designed for existing businesses, will kick off Wednesday, May 7, with a program on ‘Commercial Lending’ and will continue throughout the year with such topics as ‘Legal Guidelines for Small Businesses’ on June 4, ‘Marketing and Public Relations’ on July 9, and ‘Somerville Business Assistance Programs’ on Aug. 6. Existing business workshops will be held the first Wednesday of each month from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at SCAT at 90 Union Square.

The second series, designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, will run the second Tuesday of each month, beginning June 10, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., also in the SCAT building. Workshops include ‘Exploring City Services and Regional Resources’ on June 10, ‘Understanding the Local Market and Somerville’s Central Business Districts” on July 15, and “Licensing and Permitting’ on Aug. 12.
