After spending five years in prison on drug charges, a young man I will call Henry emerged from prison ready to walk a path of right living. Henry believed the college education he started and completed in prison would help him to land a good job.

He spent months searching and even had a few close calls, but Henry was constantly denied work. Once the interviewer heard he had been in prison, even openings that he qualified for were closed, with a “we’re sorry, try again later” response. He concluded that no one would hire someone with a prison record.

One day, while sharing his woes, a friend who had his own business suggested that Henry consider starting a business himself.

Henry reminded his friend that he had no resources and knew little about running a company. “Look into franchising,” the friend replied.

After extensive research, Henry took his friend’s advice and within six months bought a janitorial service franchise business. He’s now finally enjoying the benefits of earning a decent living. Full article.
