An online programme leading to the award of a Master of Laws in Chinese Business Law by the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) is available for global enrollment. Holders of a Master’s degree recognized by the University may complete the programme within 12 months.

Commencing in April this year, the programme is the first of its kind presented in English. It was designed to cater for the needs of business professionals engaged in Chinese-foreign joint ventures, and managers and proprietors of non-government organizations as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.

The programme covers a broad range of topics, such as Chinese civil law, contract law, intellectual property protection law and financial law, providing students with fundamental knowledge of the legal frameworks underpinning commercial operations within and outside China. It emphasizes practical applications of Chinese business law from cross-border and comparative perspectives. A large number of case studies will be used for discussion to help students better understand the actual business environment in mainland China.

Without the limitations of geographical boundaries, the programme capitalises on the flexibility of e-learning and is particularly suitable for people on the move and who want to learn at their own pace. There will be online course materials, synchronized presentations/tutorials, video-taped seminars, an e-library and reference resources from the University’s online learning platform.
